CHANGE YOUR WORDS, CHANGE YOUR WORLD

How many times do we stop and think about what comes out of our mouths? How many times do we say that’s what mum/dad told me? Do your words speak of darkness or light?

As children hear words and start to make connections to their world, the spoken word be it good or bad is filed away.  Think about it? Which words do we remember the most? The bad ones are the ones I remember more? Why????? Words are very powerful. Words spoken to us as a child are carried over through to adulthood. They can have lasting effects because we live out those words.

Some words can help build and some words can destroy our spirit.  Some words can be so shocking that they are suppressed and then manifested in the person as headaches, sleeplessness, depression, failure to hold a relationship or make friends etc… depending on what those words were. For example, parents say to the child that they weren’t good at spelling or maths so they aren’t good either. So what does the child do? The child starts to believe it. Another example is when a parent says to their child that they are lazy/mean/ugly. Words can either hurt and destroy or help grow and build.

Let see what the bible says. Our words have the power to destroy and the power to build up (Proverbs 12:6). The writer of Proverb tells us, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Are we using words to build up people or destroy them? Are they filled with hate or love, bitterness or blessing, complaining or compliments, lust or love, victory or defeat? Like tools they can be used to help us reach our goals or to send us spiraling into a deep depression.

Furthermore, our words not only have the power to bring us death or life in this world, but in the next as well. Jesus said, “But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:36–37). Words are so important, that we are going to give an account of what we say when we stand before the Lord Jesus Christ. ( taken from gotquestions.org)

So the utube clip above, exemplifies this…….. if  we change our words we can change our world. (I’d love to hear your replies). God bless and may the words you hear be music to your ears.

LET GO AND REPLACE IT WITH GREATFULNESS

For me it’s during those moments when I am feeling overtired, down and unwell that I need this the most. A time to focus not on what is wrong with me, what has not worked out, what people are saying or just feeling out of sorts.

Focusing on the negatives attracts more negatives, a bit like when you yawn- it’s contagious, you’ll soon find others around you yawning too. When someone starts the negative talk, it just seems to rise and grow into more negative talk. That’s just futile, because you’re left feeling worse. Words are powerful and they can have a positive or negative effect on you. So, if someone has spoken unkind or negative words about you or to you, just shake them off by asking Jesus to take away what ever that person has said or transferred onto you and to replace it with the opposite to what was said eg… ugly-opposite-you’re made in God’s image, beauty comes from within, fat – opposite- one size does not fit all, I am the right size and I should embrace the size that I am.

Do not let the world define who you are!

Allow God to validate you!

My cure for feeling down and out is to nip it in the bud before it takes hold. That’s exactly what the enemy wants:- to put fear and doubt into you. The enemy wants to steal your joy and achievements, the enemy wants to steal your soul.             There are always many positives in our lives but when we are in that negative state of mind, we cannot see them. If you’re finding it hard, just write down all the great things that have happened to you in the last six months.   When we’re down we prefer to focus on the negatives. All this negative stuff doesn’t come from God. God wants what is best for you, He wants you to have faith in Him, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, He wants you to ask Jesus to take away all doubt and fear and fill your cup with joy, peace love and patience. I also ask the Holy Spirit to give me a fresh infilling of His gifts………. and you know what?????? that fear, doubt, self pity, etc….. just seems to disappear.

So here are my gratefuls which may also inspire you to write your own:_ Just thinking about them makes me feel alive!!!!

My reasonably good health, the fact that I can walk unaided, I am independent, I have a wonderful husband, my beautiful daughters with whom I am close, my loving mother, my supportive brothers, my job and all the great feedback I get from others, my house, my car, the money to pay the bills, the friends I have who care, the beauty of just having been on a holiday, the joy of giving to others, the fact that I have invited a friend who is having problems, over for dinner- it gives me joy to be able to help her, supporting my husband with his men’s spirituality group, my church prayer group. My quiet times with God, the fact that Jesus thought I was special enough to give up his life for me. The sunsets from my window, my pastime for collecting curios. My dog, walks in the park, listening to my favourite music, eating my favourite chocolate licorice roll, sunrise and waking up when its daytime(daylight savings is great). Reading a good book. My favourite chair and pillow, my flowers in the garden. Many of these cost nothing or they’re reasonably cheap.

I will say this again (as I have another post with these words)……..happiness is not dependent on your circumstances.

I wish you God’s abundant blessings and a heart full of gratitude because that’s what will bring you happiness and a smile to your face.

VICTOR OR VICTIM?

It’s easy to wallow in self pity and feel sorry for yourself, but that’s like a cancer, it just grows and with it comes more misery and self pity. It really never gets you anywhere. The enemy will put fear into you because he is the master of deception. Fear is often unfounded and often we exaggerate it because we predict into the future.  We all live in the world but we don’t have to be part of that. Fear does not come from God, it is put into our hearts by the enemy. Instead, we can surrender to God and allow Him to solve our problems because He has the big picture and He has the best solution for you. Just pray and trust in God and His Son JESUS CHRIST.

There are many things that separate us from God. These are: worshipping yourself(body image), money, careers, cars, property etc………. don’t get me wrong, God doesn’t want you to be poor. God wants you to have what is best for you and for you to focus on the things that are good and praiseworthy.

I don’t think I’m alone here, I believe we all go through doubt and fear (see other blog post (FEAR) but I always find my way when I think of myself as a victor because I know who I am in Christ. Praying to Jesus who knows me better than anyone else, even better than myself,  can steer me in the right direction and towards the best possible solution.

You need to know who you are in Christ and stand firm. Speak up for God. Pray and ask Him and let Him work out your problems through the Holy Spirit who can transform your world.

You can ask Jesus what it is that He wants you to do, the answer may come in the form of a feeling, idea, thought, memory or the words to a song etc. It’s the first thing that comes to mind and don’t over analyse it, remember that Jesus has all the answers. Jesus was there when you were born, when you were growing up and He knows the heart that God the Father gave you. BE VICTORIOUS NOT A VICTIM!!
